HEAT, FURLOUGH, AND FAMILY
"This heat is unbearable!", someone said.
That caught me off guard and I looked around just in time to see the whole group affirming the statement.  I reached up and pulled the collar of my jacket tighter around my neck; I needed to get a coat... a blanket... anything to warm up!  I couldn't remember the last time I'd been so cold! But I'm sure it was the last time I was in America. (I thought it was summer here).

The weeks are slipping by and already our time here in the States is half over.  What an incredible time we've had so far as we've crossed back and forth over this country, in churches and conventions, meeting hundreds and now thousands of people.  What an indelible reminder of this great eternal family that we're a part of.

THE CHIEF MEETS THE KING
For the first few weeks of speaking here, I asked people to specifically pray for the chief of Kadavu Koro Village, where we just started a Nazarene church before we left the South Pacific.  Last week word reached us that for two Sundays now, the chief had actually come to our worship services.  Then last Sunday, at the close of the service, he came forward, kneeled at the makeshift altar and gave his life to Christ - Thank you for praying!

PRAYERS THAT MOVE THE HANDS OF GOD
God is opening doors faster than we can walk through them!  God is moving forward and building His kingdom and God is more than abundantly meeting our needs beyond what we could ask or think in this ministry and  Thank you for the vital part that you are playing and again, if you're in one of our meetings in the next few weeks, please be sure to let us know.  (Many of you have asked about the remainder of our schedule, so I've attached it again below.)

Please keep praying for national leaders in Fiji.  This is by far our greatest need as the work expands outward.  Please also pray for the Johnson's and the Bartle's who each carry the workload of many people there in Fiji and who are also very aware of their need for your prayers in this Kingdom work.

In service after service, I have been humbled and amazed at the response of you - God's people!  it is our prayer that God would bless each one of you and somehow communicate to you just exactly how valuable you are and what you mean to us.

For the Souls of the South Pacific,
Harmon and Cindy Schmelzenbach

PS.  This is Cindy.  We just received word that my brother's new born son is in the hospital in serious condition with 'whooping cough' and pnuemonia, potentially life threatening for an infant this young.  We would appreciate it so much if you would pray with us for the miracle of God's touch on this new little life.  His name is Jacob.
